Ask Mr. Foster to Buy Travel Chain in Northeast

The parent company of the Van Nuys-based Ask Mr. Foster travel agency chain has agreed to purchase Don Travel Service, which has 19 outlets in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Minneapolis-based Carlson Cos., which owns the Radisson Hotel Corp. and several restaurant chains as well as Ask Mr. Foster, would not disclose terms. Carlson officials expect the sale to be completed in early June.
The acquired company will be known as Don Travel / Ask Mr. Foster Travel Services. Thomas D. Jardine, a Carlson spokesman, said the two travel units are being kept separate because Don Travel is well known in the Northeast, where Ask Mr. Foster is aiming to bolster its reputation.
