Brentwood : Recycling Poll to Be Taken
Residents in the L. A. RECYCLE project area will be polled about the experimental program, which asks families to save glass, cans and newspapers and put them out for special collection.
The project area includes all of Brentwood, as well as parts of Pacific Palisades and West Los Angeles. The boundaries are Mulholland Drive on the north, Temescal Canyon and Pacific Coast Highway on the west, the San Diego Freeway on the east and National Boulevard on the south.
A telephone survey of 2,000 residents will seek reaction to the year-old program and ask whether they need replacement containers or collection schedules.
City Councilman Marvin Braude said more than 60% of the area’s residents are recycling regularly. Maureen Kindel, president of the city’s Board of Public Works, said the program has diverted 10% of the area’s waste from landfills.
