A two-passenger airplane crashed in the Butterfield Ranch area about 15 miles north of the Agua Caliente Springs airstrip Thursday night, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The plane’s occupants, Dale and Geneva King of Las Vegas, were taken to Palomar Hospital in Escondido. Mrs. King, 55, was in critical condition with multiple fractures, while her husband, 57, was listed in fair condition, a hospital spokesperson said.
According to state forestry officials, the Cessna 152 knocked down power lines, causing a power outage in the area for a short time. There was no fire.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash. The plane is believed to have been en route from Las Vegas to the Agua Caliente Springs airstrip.
