A man arrested last week for allegedly threatening another driver on a county freeway and later linked to a cache of drugs and weapons has been identified through military fingerprints, authorities said Tuesday.
The name originally given for the suspect, Michael Rogers, was one of seven aliases used by John Melvin Davis, 35, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Davis is being held in the Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. He is scheduled for a June 4 pretrial hearing in Long Beach Municipal Court.
Davis was arrested near Cal State Long Beach on May 13 after he allegedly brandished a gun at another motorist on the San Diego Freeway near Golden West Street in Westminster.
A search of his car turned up 84 small packages of cocaine, a handgun and homemade exploding ammunition for the weapon, authorities said. More drugs and weapons were found later in a rented storage unit, they said.
