CIF / San Diego Section Golf : La Jolla’s Rudolph Leads by One

SAN DIEGO — Harry Rudolph of La Jolla High School shot an even-par 71 Tuesday to take the first-round lead in the CIF San Diego Section Individual golf championship at the Singing Hills Country Club.
Four golfers were one shot behind Rudolph: Phil Mickelson of University, Mike O’Leary of Carlsbad, Lance Paden of Patrick Henry and Steve Bacinett of El Capitan.
The final round of the tournament will be played today at Singing Hills, beginning at 7 a.m. Thirty-one golfers, including five from Carlsbad High, made the cut, which was set at 77.
Four other golfers were at 73: Brad Stewart, Brad Baumann and Keith Sbarbaro of Poway, and Dave Cooper of Fallbrook.
Torrey Pines, the section team champion, had two players qualify for today’s final round: Mike Suckling, who shot a 75, and David Walker, who shot a 76.
