Legislature Delays Budget Votes

SACRAMENTO — The Legislature today delayed scheduled votes on a proposed $37-billion-plus state budget until Tuesday, citing too few members present and plans to adjourn as principal reasons.
The Assembly approved two anti-abortion amendments to the budget but then postponed a vote on the full budget until Tuesday because only 66 of the 80 members were in attendance. The Senate Budget Committee said its bill would not be in print until this afternoon, which conflicted with the Senate’s plan to adjourn at noon.
