‘Our Faith in Treaties’

Kirkpatrick indicates she has a highly selective memory. She seems to have forgotten the Atmospheric Test Ban Treaty that President John F. Kennedy negotiated in 1963. This treaty has saved many thousands of mothers from feeding babies milk loaded with radioactive strontium. This has spared many parents the grief of seeing a loved child die a painful death.
This treaty has been faithfully complied with by both the United States and the Soviet Union.
Perhaps if those who only see the world in black and white terms would open their eyes a bit they would see the benefits to be gained from a comprehensive test ban treaty. A comprehensive test ban would start us on the path away from the brink of nuclear war.
