A 16-year-old mother who allegedly tried to hide the birth of her newborn son by throwing the infant out of a second-floor window was charged with murder. The district attorney’s office said it wants to prosecute the young mother as an adult and has filed a motion to schedule a hearing in Juvenile Court on the request. The name of the mother, who is believed to be a Mexican national residing in the United States illegally, was withheld because of her age. Authorities said the woman threw her infant out the second-story window on Saturday immediately after giving birth in the bathroom of the apartment she shared with an aunt and uncle in Lennox, an unincorporated county area near Inglewood. The baby died on Sunday.
