All Nippon Airways began service to Los Angeles.

With the inauguration of service, the carrier, Japan’s biggest domestic airline, ended Japan Air Lines’ status as the only Japanese airline with transpacific passenger service. All Nippon’s five weekly round-trip flights to Los Angeles mark the airline’s second overseas service. The airline inaugurated flights to Guam from Tokyo in March. Beginning July 26, the carrier will inaugurate service to Washington D.C., with three round-trip flights weekly.
