Fidelcor and Merchants Bancorp plan to merge.

The companies said the $380-million merger will form an eastern Pennsylvania bank holding company with about $11 billion in assets. Fidelcor, the $8.9-billion parent company of Fidelity Bank and Industrial Valley Bank & Trust, has more than 140 banking offices in six southeastern Pennsylvania counties. Merchants Bancorp, the $2-billion parent company of Merchants Bank of Allentown, has more than 60 offices in nine northeastern Pennsylvania counties. The merger must be approved by regulatory officials and shareholders of both companies.
