Nathan Shapell Given Honorary Doctorate Degree

Nathan Shapell, chairman of the Beverly Hills-based Shapell Industries and a leading spokesman for the home building industry, has been recognized with an honorary doctorate in public service by Santa Clara University.

The honoree was lauded for his “inspirational leadership, rare acumen and social consciousness,” at recent commencement ceremonies. Special reference was made to Shapell’s longtime position as chairman of the Little Hoover Commission.

Shapell has also served on such councils and committees as the President’s Grace Commission (Private Sector Survey and Cost Control); the Post Commission (government reform), and the state of California’s Task Force on Affordable Housing.
