Decision on Sylmar Principal : Proposal to Cut Bus Service
- Share via
The article concerning RTD’s proposal to eliminate three Valley bus lines (June 27) left several questions unanswered.
According to the report, Steven Parry, RTD’s bus planning manager, claims the express lines “are especially costly to maintain.” Consequently, plans are afoot to drop the long-established 421 and 422 express lines running from Northridge to downtown Los Angeles.
It seems hard to equate these buses with their capacity loads, direct routes, fewer stops and double or triple fares as “being costly to maintain.”
If RTD loses money on these runs, which, incidentally, are only during peak hours, then the time has indeed come for the Metro!
