Chula Vista Police arrested an Imperial Beach man and are investigating a second suspect in an attempted murder involving a knifing early Saturday morning in a Chula Vista bar.
The victim, Pedro Mejia, 22, underwent surgery at UCSD Medical Center on Saturday. He was reported in critical condition.
Jose Luis Moreno, 26, and a second man fled from the Happy Landing Bar on Main Street after a fight in which Mejia was stabbed. However, the car the pair were in crashed about a block from the bar. Moreno was arrested, but the second man fled on foot.
Moreno was taken to County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, a police spokeswoman said, adding that the second man’s involvement in the fight is under investigation, she said.
