Fullerton : High School Students Attend ‘Music Academy’
- Share via
More than 150 Southern California junior and senior high school students are taking part in a music training program that began Sunday and continues through Aug. 15 on the Cal State Fullerton campus.
Called the “California Music Academy,” the 14th annual event gives young musicians a chance to perform and study music in a university setting.
“It offers them an intense experience in music,” said Benton L. Minor, professor of music on the campus. He noted that the students can take part in a jazz ensemble or concert band and attend classes in conducting, music history, piano and chamber music.
The students will give a free public concert Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Cal State Fullerton Little Theater. They will also perform and march in a parade at Disneyland on Aug. 9.
