Dodgers Pay Duncan, but With Whose Money?

In the August 7 story on Mariano Duncan, I came across this quote by Mr. Duncan: “I play for my team. I don’t play for any fan. The fans do not pay me. The Dodgers pay me.”

Who does he think pays the Dodgers? If we, the fans, decide not to attend Dodger games, how are the Dodgers going to pay Mr. Duncan? He’s the least of all the Dodgers (statistics-wise) to say anything like that.
