The first person to be charged in a drug-tampering case pleaded guilty to contaminating cold and diet capsules in hopes of lowering the price of the company’s stock. Edward Arlen Marks of Temple City, Calif., pleaded guilty to nine counts of a 27-count indictment in U.S. District Court in Orlando, Fla., for placing a rat poison ingredient in Contac, Teldrin and Dietac capsules that forced the product to be removed from stores in Orlando and Houston in March. Marks had special options on the manufacturer’s stock, prosecutors said.
