Amnesty International said that hundreds of people, most of them young men belonging to the Tamil minority, have disappeared in strife-torn Sri Lanka over the last three years and that many reportedly were tortured and killed by security forces. The London-based human rights group cited the arrests of 272 people between June 14, 1983, and last April 20 and said that none of the 272 have been seen since.
