Huntington Park : Chamber Subsidy Increased
- Share via
The City Council has voted to raise the Chamber of Commerce’s subsidy from $6,350 a month to $8,500, beginning this month.
Councilman Jim Roberts made the motion after discussing various issues with chamber members and deciding that the city needs more “direct sales promotion.”
“Their expenses are up dramatically,” he said. Roberts said he would like to alleviate some of the financial strain so that the chamber can concentrate on attracting consumers to stores on Pacific Boulevard. Roberts also suggested that the city conduct an audit of the chamber’s books for the last couple of years to see how and when funds were spent.
