Local News in Brief : Spill Blocks Traffic on San Diego Freeway
- Share via
Southbound traffic on the San Diego Freeway was blocked for almost two hours Wednesday morning after a dump truck overturned near the Sherman Way exit, spilling asphalt across the freeway, the highway patrol said.
The driver, Ashoor Pirouti, 26, lost control of the truck at about 6:40 a.m. as he braked for slowing traffic, Highway Patrolman Dane Hayward said.
Pirouti was treated for minor injuries at Valley Presbyterian Hospital and was later released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The spill involved three other vehicles in collisions, but no other drivers were injured, Hayward said.
Caltrans crews cleared the freeway by about 8:30 a.m., Hayward said.
