Man Kills Himself on Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS — A bizarre shooting Tuesday night on one of the busiest sections of the Las Vegas Strip has left a Scottsdale, Ariz., man dead.
Police say David C. Lazar, 31, was driving south on the Strip between the Imperial Palace and the Flamingo Hilton when he stopped his Corvette and told his wife he was going to shoot himself.
Metro Police Homicide Lt. Paul Conner said the man then pulled a gun and shot himself in the head.
“We don’t know if it was intentional or if he was joking and shot himself accidentally,” Conner said Wednesday.
Ron Flud, Clark County chief deputy coroner, identified the victim. He said an investigation would be conducted before a ruling is made whether the death was accidental or a suicide.
Conner said the shooting first appeared to be a suicide. But he said that after talking to the man’s wife later Tuesday night he couldn’t be sure whether the shooting was a suicide or an accident.
Onlookers jammed the area after the 8 p.m. incident and traffic was slowed on the heavily traveled six-lane Strip for more than an hour.
