San Diego State Tournament : SDSU’s Coach Wins No. 300; Team Sets Marks

SAN DIEGO — San Diego State’s women’s volleyball team set a couple of records Thursday in the opening round of the SDSU Collegiate Classic, but the most impressive statistic came when the Aztecs defeated Western Michigan to give Coach Rudy Suwara his 300th victory.

Suwara, in his 11th year as the SDSU coach, has a record of 300-125.

The Aztecs beat Providence Thursday afternoon, 15-9, 15-2, 15-4, and set school records for hitting percentage in a match (.500) and for holding Providence to a -.278 hitting percentage in the second game.

Kris Morton had 15 kills in the second match as SDSU beat Western Michigan Thursday night, 15-11, 15-6, 9-15, 15-12.
