La Habra Wins Sweepstakes Titles in Cross-Country

La Habra High School’s Terance Mahon and Moises Garcia finished second and third in Saturday’s Sonora-Craig Park Invitational to lead the Highlanders to the sweepstakes title in the cross-country meet at Brea’s Craig Park.
La Habra won both the boys’ and girls’ varsity divisions, and its top five boy and girl runners had the fastest combined time (176:04) of the 34 teams entered. Canyon finished second in the sweepstakes race.
Gabriel Sanchez of Buena Park won the boys’ varsity race, covering the three-mile course in 14:59 and finishing ahead of Mahon (15:01) and Garcia (15:13).
Lupe Casillas of El Rancho won the girls’ varsity race with a time of 18:27, followed by Sita Jones of La Habra (18:29) and Charmie McIntyre of Hacienda Heights Wilson (19:09).
