If Only It Could Have Come Down to Witt’s Decision, Not Mauch’s

Gene Mauch was right in going to his high-salaried bullpen in relief of Mike Witt. They are getting paid to stop the Gedmans who eat up starting pitchers. It’s really not right to blame one man for a loss, but if you must, his name is Gary Lucas. All I read in The Times are the boos for Mauch and Donnie Moore. If Lucas had done his job, we would not have heard the name Moore.
