Newport Beach : Schools Foundation Gets New President

John Murray, vice president for pension investment administration of Pacific Mutual in Newport Beach, is the new president of the Newport-Mesa Schools Foundation.

The five-year-old foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for special classes and projects that could not otherwise be funded by the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.

Each year, teachers are invited to apply for grants from the foundation, and Murray said he would like to see the program expanded.

“The foundation would like to increase the amount of money available for grants so that every teacher in the district who submits a meritorious application can receive funding,” he said.

Murray and his wife, Barbara, live in Costa Mesa. They have two children who attend Estancia High School.
