The body of Billie Faye Jones, 42, missing from Bakersfield since last Friday, was found under carpeting and luggage in a van two days after the man driving her van was stopped in the Riverside County community of Coachella because of a burned-out headlight. Isaac Gutierrez, 42, of Bakersfield reportedly pulled a gun on the Coachella police officer and was wounded. Rescued from the van was his estranged wife, Rosa. San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies then went to a Hesperia home, where they found Rosa Gutierrez’s fiance, John C. Stopher, 25, shot to death. Gutierrez and a 17-year-old boy who was in the van were booked on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and kidnaping in connection with the Hesperia slaying and abduction. Authorities said they do not know if Isaac Gutierrez knew Billie Faye Jones.
