Mike Kane of Northridge regained the Western Football Conference rushing lead with 174 yards against Santa Clara last Saturday. He has 1,088 yards in eight games with a 5.6 yards-per-carry average. Rob Harrison of Cal State Sacramento trails Kane by 66 yards after being held to 53 yards. . . . Santa Clara became the only team to outscore the Matadors in the fourth quarter when it scored 16 unanswered points Saturday. Northridge had allowed on 10 fourth-quarter points in its previous seven games.
Cal Lutheran became the first WFC team this season to hold Harrison and Don Hair of Sacramento to less than 100 yards rushing. . . . Valley quarterback Barry Hanks has passed for 1,184 yards and seven touchdowns and hasn’t thrown an interception in 11 straight quarters. . . . Robert Davis of Moorpark leads the Western State Conference in rushing with 644 yards and 6 touchdowns on 90 carries.
