According to Huntington Beach police, a well-dressed man in his 30s walked into Delillo Chevrolet on Beach Boulevard on Saturday afternoon and asked to test-drive a silver-and-white, late model Pontiac Firebird from the used-car lot.
After driving a few blocks on Beach Boulevard, the man pulled a revolver, ordered the salesman out of the car and drove off.
Two hours later and a quarter-mile farther south on Beach Boulevard, a man in a silver-and-white, late model Pontiac Firebird drove up to Bill Maxey Toyota and asked to test-drive a new Toyota Supra. Within a few blocks, that salesman, too, was left standing on the sidewalk.
Police said late Saturday they had found no trace of the Supra, although the Pontiac was still at the Toyota dealership, where the driver had left it.
