HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL : Scoring summaries on page 26 : Burwell Runs Chaminade Past Pater Noster

Tailback Sean Burwell rushed for 148 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Chaminade past Pater Noster, 34-25, in a Santa Fe League game Saturday at Pater Noster.

Chaminade (4-4-1, 4-1) led the entire game despite its inability to contain Pater Noster receiver Mauricio Pavon, who caught 17 passes for 239 yards--both school records--and scored two touchdowns.

Pavon broke his own record of 10 receptions in a game set earlier this season.

Burwell, who rushed for three touchdowns and scored another on an 88-yard punt return in the third quarter, capped Chaminade’s first drive with an 18-yard touchdown run. He added a four-yard scoring run in the second period.

Pater Noster (3-6, 0-5 in league) pulled to within five points by halftime on a 40-yard bomb from quarterback Edgar Espinosa to Pavon and a 37-yard field goal by Gerardo Rojas.

Espinosa completed 19 of 26 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.

Chaminade came back in the second half on an 18-yard touchdown run by Burwell and an 18-yard scoring pass from quarterback Dave Morrison to a diving Rob Bae in the end zone. Morrison completed 6 of 9 passes for 81 yards.
