Aztec Soccer Team Loses but Still Expects Call From NCAA

LAS VEGAS — San Diego State lost to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 2-1, in overtime Sunday at the UNLV Coors Invitational soccer tournament.
It was SDSU’s final regular-season game.
Mike Rowe scored in the fourth minute of the first overtime to give Wisconsin-Milwaukee the victory. All four teams in the round-robin tournament had 1-1 records and UNLV was declared the winner having scored the most goals, five. SDSU (14-3-4), which handed third-ranked Southern Methodist its only loss of the season Saturday, was the second place team, with four goals.
San Diego State’s Tim Homan was named the tournament’s top player, and Kyle Whittemore and Steve Boardman were named to the all-tournament team.
San Diego State, the 16th-ranked team in the country, expects to hear from the NCAA today if it received a bid for the NCAA tournament.
