Dominguez 12, Bell-Jeff 7--Fullback Anthony Green’s 43-yard touchdown with seven minutes left in the game gave Dominguez the nonleague victory at Burroughs.
Bell-Jeff (8-2), which has clinched second place in the Santa Fe League, trailed 6-0 after three quarters. But fullback Dave Lockwood ran two yards for a touchdown with 10:19 left to give the Guards a 7-6 lead.
Bell-Jeff’s Mike Thomson set up Lockwood’s touchdown by blocking Sergio Rodriguez’s punt at the Dominguez 39 and returning it deep into Dominguez territory.
But the 5-9, 205-pound Green, who finished with 162 yards on 23 carries, continued to pound the Bell-Jeff defense on the next series, breaking loose on an off-tackle play for the score.
Running back Eric Barnes, who added 82 yards on 12 carries, gave Dominguez (6-2-2) its first touchdown on a five-yard run late in the third quarter.
