Spanish-language station KVEA-TV (Channel 52) was selected Tuesday to carry the official international Spanish-language telecast of the 98th Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day, a first for the 1-year-old station.
A station official said the parade coverage also will be transmitted via satellite to Spanish-language stations in Miami, New York and Chicago and to TV outlets in Latin America on a Spanish-language television network to be formed by Reliance Capital Group, KVEA’s majority owner.
KMEX-TV (Channel 34), the city’s first and still dominant Spanish-language station, which has covered the event for the last 19 years, will again produce its own parade coverage on Jan 1. In past years, KMEX also has provided its parade broadcast to TV outlets in Latin America and to its sister stations in the United States affiliated with the Spanish International Network (SIN).
