CRUE CUTS

Dennis Hunt seems to have an incurable (and inaccurate) deathwish for Motley Crue.
Straining to gather support for what feels like the 137th annual critic’s demise of heavy metal, he continues to lump this band in with other outfits whose initial success has been their greatest (“Ratt ‘n’ Roll’s Rock Roller Coaster Ride,” Nov. 23).
Hunt’s research obviously failed to reveal the following readily available information: Sales of the band’s first LP were over 800,000; its second over 2.3 million and its third is currently over 2.5 million.
Perhaps if journalists would actually listen to their records, they would find that Motley Crue’s increasing popularity is due to the fact that the band is, very simply, one of a kind.
