Carlucci and Probst to Leave Board at Unisys

Unisys Corp. said Monday that Gerald Probst, chairman of Sperry Corp. before its merger with Burroughs Corp., and Frank Carlucci, President Reagan’s new national security adviser, would resign from Unisys’ board.

“Both are experienced and highly respected men whose talents will be missed at Unisys,” Chairman W. Michael Blumenthal said in a written statement released after the company’s board meeting in Detroit.

Probst, 63, joined Sperry in 1961 and became chairman in 1982. He is leaving the Unisys board on Jan. 9, Unisys said. Probst announced two months ago that he would retire at year-end but didn’t cite a specific reason, a spokesman said.

Carlucci, 56, chairman of Sears World Trade Inc., a subsidiary of Sears Roebuck & Co., joined the Sperry board in 1984 and became a Unisys board member Sept. 26. On Dec. 2, President Reagan named him national security adviser to replace Adm. John Poindexter, who quit in the Iran- contras arms controversy.

Carlucci’s resignation is effective Dec. 31, Unisys said.
