Los Angeles Regional Foodbank has received a grant of $10,000 from the Santa Fe Southern Pacific Foundation to fund a computerization project.
The project will enable the agency to more efficiently channel surplus food through participating organizations and improve service to food donors, executive director Doris Bloch said.
Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is one of the oldest and largest such services in the country. In the first three quarters of this year it distributed more than 16.5 million pounds of food through 350 participating charitable agencies.
The grant is part of a gift of $78,000 made by the Santa Fe Southern Pacific Foundation to Second Harvest National Food Bank Network and member food banks in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, Texas and California.
