A Jew convicted in France of killing an Arab nightclub owner was ordered to remain in jail until the Israeli Supreme Court decides whether to honor a French request for his extradition from Israel. The court ordered the continued imprisonment of William Nakash, 25, an immigrant from France, until it decides whether to overturn Justice Minister Avraham Sharir’s refusal to hand him over. A hearing is expected next week. Sharir, a member of the right-wing Likud Bloc, angered French authorities by asserting that Arab inmates in France could endanger Nakash’s life.
