Washington State Rallies to Beat Pepperdine, 82-77

PULLMAN, Wash. — Dwayne Scholten scored 22 of his game-high 23 points in the second half as Washington State came from behind to post an 82-77 victory over Pepperdine in a nonconference basketball game Saturday night.
The Cougars broke a three-game losing streak to improve their record to 3-4. Pepperdine fell to 2-3.
Pepperdine was leading 37-34 at halftime and took a 60-53 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining before WSU staged its comeback.
The Cougars outscored Pepperdine 11-4 over the next three minutes to tie the Waves at 64 with 6:57 left in the game.
Kitrick Taylor scored the final five points in the run. With Pepperdine leading 70-68 in the game’s final five minutes, Scholten scored WSU’s next 10 points.
A tipin by Scholten with 1:53 left gave the Cougars a 78-2 lead.
Forward Brian Quinnett added 22 for WSU, while guard Ed Allen had 22 for the Waves.
