Orange County Prep Soccer : Orange Scores Upsets Over Alta Loma, 1-0

Orange High School upset heavily favor Alta Loma, 1-0, Saturday in the Orange Tournament.
With the win over Alta Loma, which is the defending Southern Section 4-A champion and is ranked second in the 4-A this season, Orange will play Mission Viejo for fifth place Saturday at Chapman College at 1 p.m.
Orange’s James Vlcek scored the only goal of the game on a penalty kick at the 29-minute mark of the second half.
Orange raised its record to 5-2-1.
In the tournament games:
Mission Viejo 8, Damien 2--The Diablos surprised the Spartans, a traditional soccer power from La Verne.
Santiago 2, Leuzinger 1--The Cavaliers edged the Olympians to advance to the consolation finals against Brea-Olinda at Chapman College Saturday at 11 a.m.
Brea-Olinda 7, Salesian 0--Robert Hillard, Mark Dunlap, and Mike Oziminski scored two goals apiece to lead the Wildcats (3-3-1) to the win. La Serna 8, Canyon 2--The Lancers upset Canyon, one of the favorites in the tournament, to advance to the championship final Saturday at 5 p.m. Canyon will meet Esperanza in the third place game Saturday at 3 p.m.
Dominguez 5, Esperanza 4 (shootout)--Following a scoreless tie, Jose Torres scored the winning goal for the Dons in the shootout.
In the South Torrance Tournament:
Marina 2, Claremont 0--Darin Fishman and Brian Nielson each scored to give the Vikings the win in a first-round game. Claremont goalie John Ross had 18 saves.
Marina 2, Rolling Hills 1--Brian Neilson scored both of the Vikings’ goals in a second-round game. With the two victories, Marina advanced to the final eight of the 32-team South Torrance Tournament.
In the Irvine Tournament:
Newport Harbor 2, Estancia 1--David Woodruff scored the winning goal for Newport Harbor (3-1-1) with 13 minutes remaining in the match for fifth place. Mike Palmer scored Newport Harbor’s first goal in the first half. In girls’ soccer:
Edison 5, El Modena 0--Mendy Fontes scored three goals to lead the Chargers to the win in a nonleague game at Edison. Edison is 5-1-1.
