Florida’s Football Schedule Rated Toughest in ’86

MISSION, Kan. — Florida had the toughest Division I-A football schedule of any school in 1986, an NCAA study says.
The other I-A teams Florida played had a combined record of 64-29-3 for a .682 winning percentage.
Louisiana State had the second-toughest schedule in the division, playing opponents with a winning percentage of .648. Next was Notre Dame (.643), UCLA (.630), California (.611), Oregon (.610), Oregon State (.605), South Carolina (.599), Washington State (.589) and Florida State (.588.)
The NCAA released the toughest-schedule rankings of I-A schools in its weekly newspaper Monday. Over the 10 seasons the NCAA has released the study, Penn State has had the toughest combined schedule with Notre Dame second.
