Cerritos : 7th-Floor Addition Urged
The Planning Commission Tuesday recommended approval of a Beverly Hills developer’s request to add a seventh story to a proposed office building on the northeast corner of a Bloomfield Avenue and Artesia Boulevard.
The recommendation now goes to the City Council, which will decide Jan. 7 whether to allow the 17,000-square-foot floor to be built. Last summer, the council amended the city’s general plan to allow Jovet Inc. to erect a six-story structure on the Bloomfield-Artesia site. The council was criticized for approving the project as well as accepting political contributions from Joseph Dabby, owner of Jovet. Dabby contributed $3,000 to the council’s effort to defeat Proposition H, a November ballot measure that was overwhelmingly approved by voters. It prohibits council members from serving more than two consecutive four-year terms.
