Budd Co., a unit of the West German industrial concern Thyssen AG, said it would build a $100-million plant in Shelbyville, Ky., that will manufacture metal parts for existing and new auto assembly plants in the region. Budd said the plant will employ up to 400 workers and is scheduled for completion in early 1988. The company said the 400,000-square-foot facility will be located on a 75-acre site about 25 miles east of Louisville, Ky. Budd currently employs more than 10,000 workers at nine manufacturing assembly plants in seven states and Canada.
