8 Area Teams to Compete in CIF Southern Hoop Playoffs

Eight area boys’ basketball teams will continue CIF Southern Section playoff action Friday night.
In the Big Five Division, second-seeded Millikan High School (22-3) plays Servite (14-11) of Anaheim at Cal State Fullerton in an 8 p.m. game. All other games begin at 7:30 p.m.
Also in the Big Five, Lakewood (18-7) meets Marina (22-4) of Huntington Beach at Millikan High and St. Anthony (16-10) hosts Santa Ana Mater Dei (25-1) at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Mater Dei is the top-ranked team in the division.
Lynwood, a 77-74 triple overtime victor over North of Riverside Tuesday night, will meet Santa Barbara at Santa Barbara City College in a 4-A game. Lynwood is 21-5. Santa Barbara is 22-2.
In 2-A action, Centennial (19-6) plays top-seeded Rolling Hills (24-3) at Redondo Union High School.
Top-rated Whittier Christian (24-1) puts its 24-game winning streak on the line at Chaminade (18-7) in a 1-A game.
Top-rated but unseeded Whitney (21-2) will host Silver Valley (19-4) of Yermo at Cerritos High School and Leffingwell Christian (17-6) travels to Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo to play Mission Prep (18-4) in the Small Schools Division.
