5 Injured in Plunge Over Embankment

Five people were injured after their car crashed through a guardrail on Mulholland Drive in Sherman Oaks and tumbled down a 100-foot embankment Sunday night, authorities said.
The car was traveling east on Mulholland Drive near Java Drive when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle about 7:35 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Williamson said.
Two of the injured were taken by helicopter to the University of California-UCLA Medical Center in West Los Angeles, Williamson said. The two, a father and son, were listed in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said, adding that she was not allowed to identify them.
A woman identified as Donna Blythe, 40, of Panorama City was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Northridge. She suffered minor injuries, a hospital spokeswoman reported.
Two unidentified girls, of Northridge, were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and were listed in stable condition, a hospital spokesman there said.
