Leach, Melville Win at La Jolla

Rick Leach and Scott Melville of USC won the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship Sunday with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Chris Dunk and Curt Stalder at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
The victory marked the fourth time Leach has been a part of the championship doubles team at La Jolla. Leach won in 1982, 1983 and 1986 playing with Tim Pawsat.
Leach and Melville reached the final with a victory over Brian Flowers and Woody Hunt in straight sets Sunday morning. Stalder, from Irvine, and Dunk, from Newport Beach, had reached the finals by defeating the team of John and Bruce Steel.
