Retailer F. W. Woolworth Co., New York, said it topped it’s 1985 record profit by 21% in the fiscal year ended Jan. 31. Sales increased 9.1% for both the year and quarter. Specialty divisions recorded no increase in operating profits, primarily due to the extensive clearance markdowns taken by Little Folk Shop in the 1986 fourth quarter. Foreign operating income in the quarter increased $25 million while domestic operating income declined $19 million.
