Larry Costello, the Utica College basketball coach who starred in the NBA for 12 years and later coached the Milwaukee Bucks to the NBA title, resigned because of the school’s decision to drop from NCAA Division I athletics to Division III.
Costello, 55, compiled a 77-106 record during seven years at Utica, including a 10-16 mark this season. With 1,550 students, Utica was one of the smallest NCAA Division I schools in the nation.
