Czechoslovakia’s Jazz Section cultural group, whose leaders were ordered jailed last week for illegal commercial activity, has appealed the verdict to President Gustav Husak. The banned cultural organization’s legal adviser told Reuters that a letter sent to Husak asked him--in light of the international interest in the case--to quash all charges against the five and to allow the Jazz Section to resume its activities.
