Named to State Post: Mayor Elden Gillespie has been appointed to the Advisory Council of the California Waste Management Board in Sacramento. The 12-member council advises the state board that enforces the civil code for the state’s landfill companies and haulers of solid waste. Gillespie, a retired oil company production supervisor and longtime city councilman, retains his position as board chairman of the Orange County Solid Waste Enforcement Agency. He has served on the county waste advisory body for nine years.
