San Diego College Baseball : UC San Diego Takes a Pair From West Coast Christian

SAN DIEGO — Gary Fessia hit a two-run double in the 11th inning to give UC San Diego a 4-3 nonconference victory over Fresno’s West Coast Christian College in the first game of a doubleheader Friday at UCSD. The Tritons won the second game, 9-0.
In the first game, West Coast snapped a 2-2 tie when Kirk Jackson tripled home Manuel Lopez from second. Paul Burke (1-3) pitched the final three innings for the victory.
In the second game, Bob Natal’s two-run homer and John Meyers’ three-run triple highlighted a five-run first inning for UCSD (14-9). Natal also hit a solo homer in the fourth. UCSD starter Kyle Abbott (3-1) allowed two hits in six innings.
United States International University 5, Massachusetts 3--Dean Weese (3-2) struck out eight en route to his complete-game victory in a nonconference game at USIU. Ron Howard’s RBI single in the eighth scored the winning run. USIU is 15-18-1.
Point Loma Nazarene 7, Southern California College 6--Curtis Brown hit a three-run homer in the first and Steve Wainwright added a two-run shot in the second to pace Point Loma (3-5, 11-16) to the Golden State Athletic Conference game at Point Loma. Starter Doug Irwin (2-4) pitched six innings for the victory. SCC is 4-3 and 11-16.
