Firing of Campanis Ends 46 Years of Service to Baseball
- Share via
Al Campanis’ resignation is extremely unfortunate. Granted, his remarks on “Nightline” were disappointing and inexcusable. Whether these were his actual subconscious thoughts, or spoken under the pressure of Ted Koppel’s interrogation, we will never know.
What we do know is that Al Campanis dedicated 46 years of his life to the Los Angeles Dodgers and major league baseball. He is baseball. Let us not judge his entire career by this one unfortunate incident, but rather remember and respect him for his many contributions to the game of baseball.
