Shirley R. Butcher, 50, was in the fifth week of a federal trial in Chattanooga, Tenn., on an indictment that charged her with conspiracy and 25 counts of bankruptcy fraud when she entered the plea in a plea-bargain agreement with prosecutors. Butcher, whose husband pleaded guilty in the case earlier, admitted to a charge of failing to report a felony for helping hide $10,399.60 in payments on a $147,000 Rolls Royce purchased for her birthday in 1981. She faces up to three years in prison.
